Recent minimum salary increase is meant to mitigate the effect of food price increases. The minimum salary has recently been established at TJS 200.00 (equivalent to USD 41.50) as of September 1st 2012, from TJS 80.00 (USD 16.60) in August 2012. Wheat flour prices increased by 16% in August compared to July, led by price increases in Kazakhstan over the past months and higher transport expenses. In August, petrol and diesel prices remained stable in all markets except in Kurgan-Tyube, where they both increased by 3% due to reduced supplies entering the market in response to high demand.
