Nepali and African Women Climb Kilimanjaro for International Womens' Day

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, the UN World Food Programme (WFP) supported a team of 10 Nepali and African women to climb Mt Kilimanjaro. The climb was organised to highlight the importance of education for girls and young women in Tanzanian and around the world. The team included seven Nepali women who sumitted Mt. Everest in 2008, one of whom, Nim Doma Sherpa, was a former recipient of WFP School Meals. The Nepali women were accompanied by Anna Philipo Indaya, a primary school teacher from the Arusha region and member of the Hadzabe tribe; Ashura Kayupayupa, a youth activist from Dar es Salaam; and Hlubi Mboya, a South African actress and WFP Ambassador Against Hunger.
