KAMPALA – The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Uganda today welcomed a contribution of nearly US$2.6 million (€2 million) from the European Commission’s Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) to support newly-arrived refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

KAMPALA – The Government of Brazil today made its first contribution to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Uganda: some 2,000 metric tons of rice worth about US$1 million. The rice will be used over the coming months to provide 155,000 refugees with relief assistance.

KAMPALA – Good news for farmers and weather watchers: the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced today that it is giving 14 automatic weather stations to the Ministry of Water and Environment. The high-tech sets, which come in boxes and are easily assembled, conduct an array of weather monitoring and forecasting tasks. Collected data will be available to both the Government and the private sector.
