World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

KAMPALA –U.S. Mission Uganda has announced a donation of $12 million to the UN World Food Program (WFP) Protracted Relief and Recovery Operation in support of refugees in Uganda and the chronically food-insecure people in the Karamoja region.

The U.S. Mission in Uganda today announced a contribution of $7.9 million toward agriculture and market access activities of the UN World Food Program (WFP). The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), through the U.S. Government’s Feed the Future initiative, will deliver the funding on behalf of the American people. 

KAMPALA – In a dramatic turnaround, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has announced it will begin buying food grown by small-scale farmers in Acholi, a region where as recently as two years ago many people relied on WFP food assistance.

In support of efforts to make the Karamoja region more resilient, the Korea government has donated US$2 million toward a WFP asset-creation programme. It is Korea's first local donation to a UN body in Uganda through its international development agency, KOICA.

KAMPALA – The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) today announced a contribution of US$2 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in support of enhanced nutrition and higher household incomes in the Karamoja region.

KAMPALA – Good news for farmers and weather watchers: the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced today that it is giving 14 automatic weather stations to the Ministry of Water and Environment. The high-tech sets, which come in boxes and are easily assembled, conduct an array of weather monitoring and forecasting tasks. Collected data will be available to both the Government and the private sector.

A faithful donor to WFP's operations around the world,  the Government of Japan is making another significant contribution towards programmes in Uganda.

A new donation from the United States is expected to help WFP support the extremely vulnerable in Uganda's poorest region, Karamoja

With the help of funding from Japan, the United States and Saudi Arabia, WFP has established a grain warehouse to help formely displaced people, who have returned to farming, to access quality grain markets in the region.

The United Nations World Food Programme thanked the Government of Japan today for a donation of US$6.3 million towards livelihood support programmes  in the Karamoja region.
