Hunger Events At Davos

Here are some of the key events on WFP's Davos schedule:
 
  • Executive Director Josette Sheeran will on Friday chair a plenary panel, "Fresh Solutions for Food Security." Panelists include Kofi Annan, Bill Gates,  Irene Rosenfeld, CEO of Kraft; Michael Treschow, chairman of Unilever; and Thailand Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva. 
  • Ms. Sheeran will participate in several panels as speaker or moderator, raising the profile of issues crucial to our mission, such as nutrition, humanitarian assistance and logistics, and climate change. 
  • She also will host a closed-door brainstorming session on affordable nutrition in developing countries with CEOs from the food industry 
  • On Thursday evening Ms. Sheeran and Peter Bakker, CEO of our Dutch donor TNT, will co-host a dinner for approximately 50 government leaders and CEOs. The dinner will honor King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as “Champion in the Battle Against Hunger” for 2008. The dinner is designed to encourage private and public-sector leaders to collaborate on lasting solutions to world hunger and malnutrition.
