WFP Executive Director Begins Official Visit To France, A Longstanding Partner

PARIS – The Executive Director of the UN World Food Programme (WFP), Ertharin Cousin, starts a two-day visit to Paris today. On her first official trip to France since becoming Executive Director last year, Cousin will meet with the Minister for Agriculture Stéphane Le Foll and Minister for Development Pascal Canfin. She will also meet Paul Jean Ortiz, Diplomatic Advisor to President François Hollande and other high-level officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to thank them for France’s unwavering efforts alongside WFP in the fight against hunger.

One Year After The Sahel Crisis, WFP Executive Director Visits Burkina Faso

WFP Executive Director Ertharin Cousin visited Burkina Faso this month to look at the situation in the West African country one year after the region was hit by a severe food and nutrition crisis. WFP reached some 1.5 million people in Burkina with emergency food assistance as part of its response to  the region-wide Sahel crisis. For Burkina the effects of drought were compounded by an influx of Malian refugees fleeing conflict in their country.
