These can be as simple as knowing how to include nutritious foods in the family diet, early diagnosis or access to treatment.   Through this project, malnourished women and children receive treatment right in their communities. For the most severe cases, the project also provides support to mothers and caregivers to bring newborns and children to treatment centres, and stay with them until they are cured. In the cities of Bamako and Mopti, WFP has established a cash transfer system that is progressively replacing traditional food distributions. The financial assistance allows families to choose and purchase their own food. For displaced families, cash transfers can represent a first step back to a normal life.
