Diary From Darfur: Episode 3

On his third day in Darfur, WFP Video Producer Marco Frattini meets a woman from Zam Zam camp, home to thousands of people displaced by the region’s long-running conflict. He also sees how women at the settlements are learning how to prevent their children from becoming malnourished.

Ecuador: WFP links small-scale farmers with schools for a diversified diet

In the Ecuadorian border area, WFP links small-scale farmer associations with schools and other safety nets, with a special focus on women. From the point of view of families and schools, results are measured in terms of diversified diets for children. Women farmers explain about this new way of working and how it has improved their incomes and livelihoods. Partnering local authorities explain how this contributes to integrate Colombian refugee families. (Available also in Spanish)

How Food Is Empowering Women In Afghanistan

A series of food assistance projects in northeastern Afghanistan are helping to teach women how to read and write as well as grow fresh vegetables they can sell on the local market. As an extra incentive to take part in the project, the women are provided food rations by WFP.

From the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, an all-women team of climbers from Africa and Asia share a message for International Women's Day about what women can achieve when they receive an education and the right nutrition as girls. Food Assistance to Internally Displaced People in Mali (For The Media)

Following a temporary suspension in operations after the military intervention earlier this month, WFP has resumed food distributions to displaced people in central Mali, including to around 22,000 people in the town of Mopti and 12,000 in the capital, Bamako.
