From a two-day assessment to an in-depth survey
WFP conducts a wide range of different analysis as the informations requirements differs depending on circumstances (emergency or a long lasting chronic situation) and the operation cycles.
WFP has the capacity to immediately assess needs when an emergency breaks, to monitor evolving situations and to conduct large household surveys for an in-depth understanding of food security. WFP has unique capacity and experience of collecting data at household level in more than 80 countries.
Every year, WFP conducts about 90 food security analysis exercises. In 2008 WFP conducted a record of 146 assessments, which was due in a large part to the numerous assessments conducted to evaluate the impact of higher food prices on households’ food security.
