With more emergencies occurring each year, ranging from conflict and civil unrest to natural disasters and medical outbreaks, emergency responders must work harder, push themselves further and respond more effectively than ever before.

But before humanitarians can deliver lifesaving aid and assistance to those most in need, IT emergency responders are first on the ground, ensuring that robust, yet agile, IT, telecommunications and the underpinning electrical solutions are in place. After all, communications is the backbone of a successful emergency response.

WFP's Fast Information Technology and Telecommunications Emergency and Support Team (FITTEST) leads the way. Whether developing new technologies and solutions for the field, providing specialized training and support to the response community and local staff or sweating it out in some of the world's harshest and most remote locations, FITTEST is on the frontline of any IT emergency response.
