Humanitarian Assistance In Northern Yemen

CAIRO – WFP is doing its utmost to reach thousands of hungry, displaced people in northern Yemen, many of whom have been without food for a month.

Intensified fighting means access to nearly 150,000 displaced people remains an urgent issue for humanitarian workers.  WFP and other UN agencies on the ground continue to press for localised humanitarian ceasefires so that vital food assistance and supplies can get through to those desperate for our help.

Despite all odds and extremely tense security conditions, on 14 September WFP implementing partner Islamic Relief was able to begin distribution of WFP food to IDPs in Sa'ada town.
