ROME – The Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Josette Sheeran, arrives today in Copenhagen, Denmark, to participate in a high-level conference marking the 50-year anniversary of the Danish International Development Agency (Danida). The conference will gather leaders from European Union, governments, international organizations and civil society.
Sheeran will participate in a panel debate focusing on “New partnerships for development,” and will share WFP’s experience working with the private sector, leveraging private finance and managing multilateralism. She will also speak about WFP and partners’ response to the recent Horn of Africa crisis during a High-level Lunch Dialogue attended by ministers, EU officials and heads of international organisations.
Sheeran will also meet with Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Patron for the Danish Refugee Council, following her recent visit to WFP operations to Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya.
This will be Sheeran’s final trip as WFP Executive Director, after which she will assume the role of Vice Chairman of the World Economic Forum next month.
