FOOD FOR LIFE

WFP and United Colors of Benetton have launched a global communication campaign which aims to put hunger back at the top of the international agenda.

The Food for Life campaign uses a series of images by Benetton photographer James Mollison to tell the true stories of women, children and men whose only chance of escaping crisis and poverty lies with WFP's food aid.

In Sierra Leone, for example, former soliders receive food aid if they surrender their weapons; they are trained in jobs so they no longer have to fight. In Afghanistan, women are paid in food rations for work which helps them rebuild their lives.

In this way, WFP food aid supports rehabilitation, education, development. Aboveall, it saves lives.
