Uganda - Nutrition and Emergency Response Children are weighted at the therapeutic feeding Center at Saint Joseph's Mission Hospital in Kitgum northern Uganda. Northern Uganda once had over 1.8 million people living in camps for internally displaced people as a result of the 18 year long war with the Lord's Resistance Army. Despite the food being supplied by the WFP, food security is a big issues and the number of malnourished children was high in many of the camps.

Sudan - Disarmament, Demobilization & Reintegration (DDR) Programme In Sudan, WFP’s peace-building activities go beyond food. Since 2004, WFP has worked with the Government of Southern Sudan to repair 2,500 kilometers of the worst section of roads and remove or destroy more than 230,000 mines and unexploded ordinances. This has not only built the infrastructure desperately needed to move a conflict-devastated area towards economic recovery, it has also allowed more people to become self-sufficient, moving many people off our food assistance programmes.
