A group of women in UNAMID base where 4,000 people sought refuge after heavy fighting broke out this March in Kor Abeche. This February a new wave of violence spread across parts of Darfur displacing some 300,000 people. WFP is providing food assistance to all those displaced.
With WFP food rations, displaced women are able to prepare a meal for all those who sought refuge inside the UNAMID base. Women make up the majority of displaced people who fled their homes after heavy fighting broke out in Kor Abeche.
A mother and her child visiting their house that armed attackers reduced to steel and ashes. The attack happened as families were preparing for the approaching lean season. They did not only lose their homes but also their lifelong possessions, food reserves and livestock.
