WFP is aiming to provide school meals to 80,000 school-age children across Bolivia’s 52 most food-insecure municipalities.  Here at the Huarimarca School, students get a cup of api (a hot beverage made of purple maize flour and cinnamon) and bread for breakfast.

Lucia is a cook at the Huarimarca School – she explains that Huarimarca is mostly a town of women as men have migrated to find work.  But she continues to stay in Huarimarca knowing her children are taken care of thanks to WFP’s school meals.

At Huarimarca, children receive both breakfast and lunch – which includes locally-procured foods.  Many students prefer eating at school rather than at home because they love the vegetables they get with their lunch.

Just $.25 provides a school meal for a child – giving them the boost they need to learn, play and achieve a better tomorrow. Here, Eulalia (center) and her friends are playing “tulitas” (“hide and seek”). Thank you for supporting these children!
