World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Paolo Mattei, WFP Representative in Bolivia and emergency coordinator in Paraguay, sits next to Paraguayan national and local authorities, ambassadors and representatives of the international cooperation during their visit to the community of El Espinillo, some 320 km from Asuncion. 

The community residents of El Espinillo in the Paraguayan Chaco welcome the delegation of ambassadors and representatives of the international cooperation. Among the residents was Flora Valdez, who later opened her home to the visiting party.

This truck of the National Emergency Secretariat (SEN) of Paraguay is ready for a food distribution in the community of El Espinillo. The food rations were organized so the international delegation could witness the dynamics of this operation.

WFP field staff assist residents of El Espinillo to pack their food rations. The ration is made up of rice, beans, salt, flour and vegetable oil.

Two women of the community carry home their WFP food rations, which will provide the nutrional intake for one month.
