Saint Kizito rehabilitation centre The Saint Kizito centre was created in 1965 and is specialized in physical rehabilitation and training of disabled children. Most of its students used to be victims of polio. After a decade-long conflict in Burundi, the centre started to cater for an increasing number of conflict victims.

Living at Saint Kizito Of the 223 children attending school at Saint Kizito, 163 are physically disabled. Others are poor vulnerable children. Some are external but the majority live at the school.

Saint Kizito tricycles The Saint Kizito institute makes 30 tricycles per month. They are sold all over the country and help provide funding.

Churning out tricyles at Saint Kizito These tricycles are subsidized by NGOs such as Handicap International and sold at a very low cost (around US$5).

Workshop at Saint Kizito Apart from providing education to physically disabled and vulnerable children, Saint Kizito also has workshops that make false limbs for the handicapped.

Dance at Saint Kizito The children perform a traditional dance to express thanks for the support provided by WFP -- part of WFP's assistance to 4,000 people in social centres in Burundi.
