World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

WFP launched an immediate reponse to the floods in Cambodia, the worst to hit in more than a decade, providing monthly rice rations to those worst- affected.

This woman was one of a total of 60,000 individuals receiving emergency food supplies in the first round of food distributions.

Beneficiaries received 50 kg of rice and a complementary package of essential food and non-food items from NGO partner, Save the Children and in other areas from other NGO partners including ADRA, Caritas, CWS, World Vision and CARE.

An estimated 1.5 million people in total were affected by this year’s floods. People travelled by boat to collect their emergency rations. 

WFP is working in close collaboration with the Royal Government of Cambodia and NGO partners in monitoring medium and long-term food security needs.

Villagers on this Mekong river island come to receive much-needed food and other emergency supplies ensuring that they can get back on their feet as soon as possible.
