WFP provides meals of cooked rice and fish soup to nearly 350,000 school children across Cambodia. Wat Phnom primary school in Kampong Speu province (Odong district) - approximately one hour from the capital city Phnom Penh - is one of the schools at which WFP provides hot, nutritious meals daily.
Smiling students wave their ration cards which will entitle them to monthly rice rations as part of WFP’s Food Scholarship Programme at Sankor Khor primary school in Kampong Thom province, central Cambodia. Both girls would like to be doctors when they grow up.
Pech, 12, studies at Sankor Khor primary school and hopes to be a teacher someday. He has 3 brothers and two sisters. He lives in Sankor village in Kampong Svay district where both his parents work as rice farmers. In October 2011, his family lost their rice crop due to severe flooding. He says WFP food assistance helps them get by as they try to recover from their crop loss.
