Assistance to Conflict-Affected Populations in the Central African Republic

This Operation has been modified as per Budget Revision 3 (see below).

Despite its considerable potential, the Central African Republic is one of the world's poorest countries, ranking 179 out of 187 countries on the 2011 human development index. Sociopolitical instability stemming from a series of  coups d'état and armed conflicts since the 1990s has caused large-scale displacement of people and has impeded the country’s development. A lack of infrastructure, the degradation and disruption of the education and health systems, and limited government presence in some parts of the country leave the conflict-affected population vulnerable to further shocks.
