World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Through WFP’s school feeding programme, students in primary schools receive a daily meal, consisting of maize, beans, vegetable oil and salt. In some districts of Benin, school enrolment level can be lower than 50%.

WFP school meals are handed out to students. Providing school meals is an effective means to promote education by encouraging families to send their children to school.

Glégnon enjoys his WFP school meal.  In partnership with the Government of Benin, WFP provides food assistance to children enrolled in public primary schools through its school meals programme in 6 of the 12 regions in the country, reaching more than 360 schools and 100,000 students.

Students enjoy breakfast made from food provided by WFP. School meals not only help to increase enrolment, but also help to improve students’ concentration in class.
