World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Flooding and overflowing rivers have affected a total 96,000 people.

Farms have been among the most affected by the heavy winter that started in January and prolongs into April.

WFP delivered food rations to the affected families in Babahoyo through the National Secretariat of Risk Management (SNGR), the government's institution in charge of strengthening the country's capacities to prevent and manage natural disasters. 
 

Alison Flores (15 months) eats a fortified biscuit while her father, Rolando Flores holds her safely in his arms. These fortified biscuits are produced in Ecuador and WFP distributes them as part of its initial response to emergencies in other countries as well.

This woman is on her way home with an emergency food ration. WFP rations consist of rice, oil, beans, oats and sardines.

A Babahoyo woman shows her satisfaction after receiving her family's food ration. This ration is enough to feed a five people for two weeks.
