The Minister of Agriculture, Javier Ponce, talked to children at the Roberto Cruz Primary School. During his speech he emphasized the importance of eating fresh and nutritious food. He also elaborated on the fact that the majority of this food is produced locally.
During the fair, WFP trained parents on the importance of good nutrition for school-aged children. Domenica went to the nutrition training with her mother. She spent time playing with the corn model that was created as an interactive dynamic tool.
The WFP Representative in Ecuador, Deborah Hines, spoke about the mission and goals of WFP in regards to school meals. She also discussed various new local purchase models that are being implemented in Ecuadorian provinces.
Nutritional education is key to the improvement of family diets. The fair's entertainers gave prizes to students who answered correctly their questions about the puppets' messages on good nutrition, like this girl at Roberto Cruz Primary School.
