World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Howard G. Buffett and WFP staff  pay a courtesy call to the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Aja Isatou Njie-Saidy. Also present were: Ms. Fatou Lamin Faye, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education; Mr. Baboucarr Bouy, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education; Mr. Sait Drammeh, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture; and Mr. Poulo Joof, Acting Executive Director of the National Disaster Management Agency.

During Buffett's courtesy call to the Vice President's Office, WFP handed over motorbikes and laptops to the Department of Planning, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education and the National Disaster Management Agency.

Howard Buffett speaks to The Gambia Radio and Television Services, speaking on his collaborations with WFP in The Gambia and elsewhere. While on his trip to The Gambia, Buffett pledged US$75,000 for a local procurement feasibility study.

Howard Buffett meets Mr. Baboucarr Suwareh, the Regional Education Director for Gambia's West Coast Region, who welcomes him on behalf of the Ministry of Education at St John Vianney Basic school.

Howard Buffett and WFP Gambia Country Director Vitoria Ginja take a tour of St John Vianney's school garden. Buffett examines the soil and advises the garden caretaker to explore other crops such as maize on account of the fertile soil. Vegetables from the garden form part of the students daily meals. 

At the St John Vianney Basic school in the western region of Gambia, Buffett is welcomed by the Food Management Committee with traditional Mandinka music.
