On 5 June, WFP Ghana held an award ceremony in Northern Region for its girls scholarship scheme. Since 2001, when the scheme started, more than 200 girls have received scholarships from WFP to complete secondary school.

Gladys Sampson represents a private sector company that funded 10 girls' scholarships.  The scholarships are awarded to girls who previously received WFP rations in primary school but are unable to fund secondary education.

 A group of the beneficiary girls at the scholarship ceremony. An impact evaluation conducted in 2011 showed that 95 percent of girls who received scholarships between 2001 and 2010 were either in secondary school, tertiary institutions, or working after having completed school.
