World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Ingrid (4 years old) and Juni Tol Suar (5 years old) met in their house patio playing when the earth trembled. Neither the cold nor the scare of the earthquake wiped off the smiles off their faces.

 

The WFP has delivered food for emergencies in the temporary hostels. The rations include corn, beans, CSB Plus, and cooking oil.
 

“Thanks to the World Food Programme that give us help today. Not only for my family, but for all that you see here, they suffered a lot,” Sebastian Tol.
 

Agriculture is the main economic activity of the family, tailoring allowed for additional income. The earthquake also ended with their sowing machine.

 

The roof and the wall of this room fell completely. Fortunately the family left the place in time.

 

The constructions most affected were those made out of adobe, an ancient form of construction that uses clay, sand and straw. The photo shows a detail of a crack on the wall of the family Tol Suar
 

Under this covering for wood they spent the night of the earthquake. It was their first refuge since their house tumbled.
