According to Copeco, Honduras' state agency that deals with natural disasters, across the southern region some 15 families became homeless, 2,427 houses were damaged, 22 were destroyed, one bridge was also destroyed and 20,000 acres of crops were flooded.
Flood affected residents receive food rations in Marcovia. Food rations distributed to families include rice, corn, beans and milk, among others products, and should last for seven days, said WFP Representative in Honduras, Miguel Barreto.
This boy takes home one of the rations handed out at a distribution point at the community of Monjaras, Choluteca. WFP and Honduran authorities are concerned about the most vulnerable, especially women and children, who after an emergency find themselves suddenly with nothing to eat.
