World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

The World Food Programme and the First Lady of Honduras, Rosa Elena de Lobo, delivered glasses and plates for serving school meals to the elementary school in the Maya-Chorti community La Pintada, Honduras.

The School Dionisio Herrera has 95 students who are taught in Spanish and the Maya-Chorti language (they are an ethnic group descended from the Maya).

The students are part of the community Zompopera, which is located in Copán, one of the departments with the highest rates of undernutrition in Honduras.

These students find an old trunk to enjoy their meal on, including traditional white corn tortilla.

Whatever nook or corner is perfect for eating lunch alone or accompanied by other students.

The poverty of the parents of these students have prevented them from buying school uniform. Note some of the children do not wear uniforms.
