World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Purchase for Progress (P4P) contributes to poverty reduction in Honduras by supporting the agricultural production of small-scale farmers and connecting them to the local market.  P4P offers a reliable market opportunity to small holders by purchasing corn and beans to distribute through school meals.
Currently, 13,000 small-scale farmers are benefitting from this project, many of them women. 
 

WFP works directly with small-scale farmers, helping them produce food surpluses and sell them at a fair price.  Here, a member of WFP´s Field Staff provides technical support to a P4P beneficiary.

This farmer is examining his crop of beans. P4P provides farmers with technical support to significantly improve crop yields. WFP plans to purchase more than 3,000 metric tons of beans from small-scale farmers to distribute through school meals throughout the country.
