Here in Palkaka, a village in northwestern Honduras, children from a local school help carry the WFP food which has just arrived by boat. It is destined for the school meals programme in their school.

Children happily enjoy themselves after a school meal. Parents and teachers prepare and distribute the school meals which is much appreciated as these communities are economically disadvantaged.

This is the best time of the day where boys and girls get ready to enjoy their school meals. Access to the department of Gracias a Dios is made only by air or sea, and the majority of children living here have never left their community since travel costs are extremely high for the poor communities.
