Position:           Programme Assistant for Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM)

Accountabilities: Within delegated authority and reporting directly to the Head of the Papua Office, with a technical reporting line to the Head of VAM in the Country Office, the Programme Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

  • In collaboration with the VAM CO, operationalize the VAM strategy for the Sub-Office and ensure that the VAM work plan is implemented, including activities on the provincial Food Security and Vulnerability Atlases (FSV)
  • Act as the provincial focal point for the implementation of the WFP-DFAT agreement to strengthen government capacity to access food and nutrition security;
  • Monitor and compile information from various sources (government, NGO, university, etc) related to food security, disaster, and poverty issues in Papua province;
  • Enhance and maintain relationship with key local government and non-government agencies related with VAM activities;
  • Contribute to capacity development of the government counterparts, provincial and district levels on food security analysis and mapping;
  • Assist in surveys related to food security in Papua province, including program monitoring and evaluation surveys;
  • Support the Head of the Papua Office to carry out advocacy on food and nutrition security in meetings, workshops, seminars, missions, etc.;
  • Assist the Head of the Papua Office and CO in organizing workshop and training related to VAM activities for government and/or other implementing partners as required;
  • Perform other duties, as required.

Qualifications and Experiences:

Education: Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in economics, agriculture, social sciences, development studies, statistics, anthropology, international affairs, business administration, or a field relevant to international development assistance.

Experience: Three years working experience in development programme, humanitarian assistance, or research related activities is desirable.  Experience in working with capacity development programmes with government agencies is an advantage. Experience of working in Papua is an asset.

Knowledge: Training and/or experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.

Language: Fluency in both oral and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.

Other Desirable Skills: Training and/or experience using Word, and Excel; WFP’s Information Systems (WINGS) and other WFP software; knowledge of WFP financial regulations; and rules and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work.
