Despite the availability of many food varieties in the market, the nutritional status of children in Sampang remains a concern, with 31% of children stunted (too short for their age). 

WFP collected market price data on Amben market in Sampang to get a closer understanding of the minimum cost of nutritious meals in the community.

A focus group discussion is conducted in a Public Health Centre in Sampang to identify local food habits and food consumption.

Typical food consumption in Sampang is rice mixed with dried cassava, chili and tofu. The UN’s Human Development Index ranks Sampang 426th of Indonesia’s 440 districts.
