The ship MV Tuperna brought rice from Ghana to the Liberia capital of Monrovia, to be distributed to Ivorians who have fled across the border from Cote d’Ivoire in the wake of disputed presidential elections. By purchasing rice in the region, WFP is able to more quickly deliver food assistance to these vulnerable populations.

WFP used airlifts to bring much-needed High Energy Biscuits, rice, Supplementary Plumpy and non-food items to Cote d'Ivoire and Liberia in order to more quickly assist Ivorian IDPs and refugees who have been displaced due to the recent political crisis.

Supplies from Dubai arrive at the UN Humanitarian Response Depot in Accra, Ghana, and are immediately loaded for Man, Western Cote d'Ivoire.
