World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

Dadaab Refugee camp in north-eastern Kenya is home to over 340,000 refugees, most of them from Somalia. The camp, which was initially meant for 90,000 people, making it the largest concentration of refugees in the world

On an average, 200-300 new refugees arrive in the camp every day, most of them fleeing civil war in Somalia

The refugees depend almost entirely on humanitarian agencies for their needs. WFP provides food assistance to the refugees.

WFP also provides food for supplementary feeding of malnourished children under the age of five and pregnant and nursing mothers

Although vegetables are not part of the WFP food basket, some ingenious refugees such as this woman find ways of growing vegetable in this arid region to supplement their diet
