Tiemoko Camara, pictured next to the truck door, is from the village of Niogomera. Already in November, he has to travel 17 km in search of fodder, which he buys at 44,000 CFA (88 US$) a truckload.

Population movements have begun early as people go in search of pasture and less hostile areas.

In Yelimné in the Kayes region, women must stop gardening as early as October and November as they have to tend to post-harvest activites.

The drought makes farming and gardening very diffcult for the women of Yelimne.
