Politicians not focusing on food security situation: WFP
Published on 29 July 2010

If the time and energy spent on political unrest is devoted to solving real problems of poverty and food crisis, the population might not be as hungrier as they are right now. “Due to a greater focus on politics, the real and pressing concerns get lost somewhere in the middle. The politicians and government are not focusing on the food security as much as they need to. It is easier to ignore and overlook how the people in the rural hinterlands are living,” said Richard Ragan, country director of the United Nations’ World Food Program (WFP) at a photo exhibition organised by WFP, showcasing the food rituals of Nepal.
