By late autumn, the flood waters had receded in much of the country and people like this woman in Punjab began to rebuild. WFP is helping them get back on their feet by making ensuring that their basic needs were provided for.

While the floodwaters had receded across the country by winter, they remained high in the southern Sindh province where many families were still living in tents and subsisting on food rations from WFP.

As Pakistan looks towards rebuilding, "food for work" and "cash for work" programmes across the country are providing for people's basic needs while they clear roads, repair bridges and go back to their fields.
