World Food Programme Fighting Hunger Worldwide

For the third consecutive year, monsoon floods have hit Pakistan's Sindh and Balochistan provinces. According to the Government of Pakistan, 451 people were killed and nearly  5 million people were affected. The flood also damaged more than 1.1 million acres of agricultural land and almost 400,000 houses were partially or completely destroyed.

WFP immediately responded to the urgent food needs of 20,000 families in Jacobabad, Naseerabad and Jafferabad districts with over 1,100 MT of emergency food supplies. WFP Logistics moved the required supplies to distribution locations.

Many roads were completely submerged by the flood water.  WFP used trucks, tractors and boats to deliver monthly food rations to distribution points.
 

WFP boats were also used in search and rescue efforts and helped elderly, women and children to safety.

WFP logistics used every possible resources to ensure that food reached people in dire need at the right time.
