Yemeni men checking their names on the list at a WFP distribution centre in Haradh near the Saudi borders north of Yemen. WFP provides assistance to around 350,000 people who have been displaced by the long-standing conflict in Sa’ada.

Aisha, 25, lives with her husband and two children in a makeshift settlement near Al-Mazraq camp in north Yemen. They also live with seven other members of their extended families. Aisha cooks lunch every day and bakes bread using WFP pulses and oil.

Aisha’s youngest son Ali, two, was born in displacement after his family left all their life-long belongings and fled violent clashes in their hometown. Families in this makeshift camp come from Al-Malheet area in Sa’ada.

A displaced woman is seen baking bread using WFP wheat flour in this outdoor traditional oven. Most families in this makeshift settlement arrived to Al-Mazraq camp three years ago only to find it too full to accommodate them. They had to find another safe location having nowhere else to go after they had fled the long-standing violent conflict in Sa’ada. .

Displaced girls share a simple meal of bread and pulses their mothers have cooked. Political tensions remain high in Yemen and the country continues to face armed conflicts both in the north and the south. This has been posing significant security challenges and resulting in a wave of displacement.
