On the road: Bangladesh

We're fighting hunger, come with us

We're on the road in Bangladesh with Natasha Scripture, who finds herself in one of the world's most flood-prone countries where 65 million out of 150 million people cannot meet their basic food needs. Natasha meets some of the women who manage, with WFP's help, to keep their families going despite the challenges.

Public Information Officer

I work at WFP's headquarters in Italy, but jump at any chance to go to the field. This is where you see WFP at its best. I'm small, so I can pretty much squeeze in anywhere – whether it be a crowded 4X4, canoe or a rickshaw. When travelling with 4 cameras and a tripod, it makes a difference!

Rain and Rice

In this episode Natasha gets a taste of what it's like being the woman of the house in a poor family in northwestern Bangladesh. Ankle-deep in rainwater she plants rice in flooded fields and visits the home of a woman who is currently receiv ing  wfp assistance. She also sees how giving food rations to women empowers them in their community.

Bamboo Boats and Bikes

Take a mini-tour on a bamboo boat along a Bangladeshi river with Natasha and meet the undernourished women whose main meal is rice, salt and chilli. Little Shaheeda is so hungry she doesn’t wait to get home but tucks in at the nutrition centre.
