WFP has been evaluating operations since 1965, with two aims:
to identify both the agency's achievements and the improvements needed (learning).
to inform the Executive Board of the effectiveness of WFP-supported interventions (accountability).
The Office of Evaluation is part of the secretariat. The Director of Evaluation signs off on evaluation reports and submits them simultaneously to the Executive Director and the Board.
The Office is composed of a director, six evaluation officers, a junior evaluation officer and four support staff members.
