Before moving to Ethiopia, Schuler worked for the West Africa Regional Bureau in Senegal. Before that she was in WFP's Niger country office and before that she was a PI Officer for DPKO in Burundi.

She began her career as a Media Manager with the World Economic Forum in Geneva.
