Villagers in Sampwe are carrying WFP bags after an airdrop of 14 tonnes of cereals and pulses from an Antonov aircraft in Sampwe, Katanga, DRC. In total WFP is planning to airdrop 120 tonnes for more than 16,760 internally displaced people.
So far 78 tonnes have been dropped in Dubie, and 29 tonnes in Sampwe since April 5.
Aidrops in Sampwe are ongoing this week and will move on to Mitwaba soon
In total WFP is planning to feed more than 41, 000 displaced people with these airdrops, the first in DRC, and the first by WFP outside Sudan since 1998.
