Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh 10th September 2004

The Kaji Dongri, Indiamix production site. The plant was created and developed under a WFP assisted project.
This small but productive factory was entirely run by women who operated the machinery with remarkable efficiency.
The women that ran the plant were also planning to enhance the monthly production capacity from cca 40 to 70 MT by way of implementing a night shift to boost the production quantity.
Particular attention is being paid to micronutrient deficiencies. The feeding programme supported by WFP has found ways of addressing this issue in a cost-effective manner. WFP has been helping local enterprises in the production of Indiamix, a fortified blended food based on wheat, full-fat soya and micronutrients. The production of Indiamix as a women’s enterprise and social marketing strategies are also being promoted.
