East Timor, Maliana Town, 2001

Helicopter operation to fly food from Maliana to Opa, Lolotoe sub-district. In Opa, a new landing platform was cut from a hilltop (through a FFW project) to enable helicopter deliveries in this area not accessible by road during the rainy season. The operation that day consisted in replenishing the Opa warehouse for Lolotoe sub-district in anticipation of the wet season and subsequent access diffilculties. 12 rotations moved 35.5 metric tons of maize, beans, oil.
