WFP supports school feeding in Guinea Bissau through its PRRO (running from September 2002 until March 2004; another PRRO will follow, running until June 2005 (under preparation). The main objectives are to improve primary school attendance, particularly of girls, reduce primary school drop-out rates, contribute to a substantial reduction in adult - and especially women’s – illiteracy, and reduce the rate of youth unemployment rate through support to vocational training centres. 86,000 children were targeted by WFP scholl feeding programme in 2003 and 98,000 are planned for 2004.
