Cambodia, Phnom Penh, April 2006

Sokhoen (age unknown) with week old baby. As her delivery date approached, she arrived at Maryknoll's guesthouse for pregnant women in Phnom Penh, where she is given lessons on hygiene and infant care and spends time with other women who are pregnant and HIV+. Maryknoll monitors all the women and ensures that they will receive nevirapine and AZT when they deliver, two drugs that greatly reduces the risk of transmission from mother to child. Maryknoll will provide infant formula for 12 months and test the child for HIV.
