WFP-assisted beneficiaries include farmers as well as rural communities living close to project sites, who are able to use assets/infrastructure (dams, dykes, social buildings, wells, etc.) that have been built or maintained; boys and girls receiving basic education in schools; children suffering from malnutrition together with expectant and/or nursing mothers suffering from food deficiencies.
WFP's operations cover eight agro-pastoral regions in the south and south-eastern parts of Mauritania: Trarza, Gorgol, Brakna, Guidimakha, Tagant, Assaba, Hodh El Gharbi and Hodh El Chargui.
