Headed by the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Guinea-Bissau, Mr. José Ramos-Horta, the joint mission of UNIOGBIS, WFP, UNFPA, African Union, British Parliament Permanent Commission for Peacebuilding in Guinea-Bissau, along with regional governmental representatives, traditional and community representatives, has visited Caritas Nutritional Recovery Centre, which is being supported in the framework of WFP nutrition activities.
In Guinea-Bissau, WFP nutrition intervention covers more than 40,000 beneficiaries comprising: children under 5 years, pregnant and breast feeding women, individuals living with HIV under ART and people affected by Tuberculosis under DOTS treatment and their families affected by Food Insecurity. The NGO Caritas is a faith-based organisation which has been working with WFP as a Cooperating Partner.
