Navy has been working in a karaoke bar for 5 months. She joined the industry at the request of a friend.
Her father has died of AIDS-related causes, and her mother works as a rice farmer, looking after her 5 year old brother in Preykabbus District. Her mother is ill and receives antiretroviral therapy. Navy finds it impossible to say the word HIV. The family is receiving food assistance.
Navy was married through an arranged marriage and is now separated. She left school with Grade 2 at 15 years old and cannot read or write.
Navy wants to benefit her brother through her work. She is clear that she wants her brother to be well educated. Navy says that if she has money she can return home.
